Gijs Bakker / ハイス・バッカー 略 歴 1942年にオランダに生まれ、ジュエリーとインダストリアルデザインをアムステルダムとストックルムで学ぶ。ジュエリーデザインに始まり、ホームアクセサリー、電化製品、家具、インテリア、エキシビジョン、公共スペースなど多方面でのデザインを行なう。多数の仕事を持ち、その一つとして企業のデザイン顧問を請け負う(Polaroid, Artifort, HEMA, van Kempen en Begeer 他)。 1993年より Renny Ramakersと共に ドローグデザイン(Droog Design)を立ち上げ、ドローグデザインの全てのプロダクトのセレクション、アートディレクションを担う。1996年より Marijke Vallanzascaと共にジュエリーブランド、 Chi ha paura...? を立ち上げる。 デザイン活動と同時に、アイントホーフェンデザインアカデミー、デルフト工科大学をはじめ様々な学校で４０年間にわたり教鞭をとり、世界各地でワークショップやレクチャーを行う。また、個展”Gijs Bakker and Jewelry”が各地の美術館で巡回開催されている。 − パブリックコレクション − American Craft Museum, New York Boymans-van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, The Netherlands Centraal Museum, Utrecht, The Netherlands Cooper-Hewitt, National Museum of Design, Smithsonian Institution, New York Denver Museum of Art, CO Gemeentelijke van Reekummuseum, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands Montreal Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Quebec Museum Het Kruithuis, 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum, Trondheim, Norway Power House Museum, Sydney, NSW Rijksdienst Beeldende Kunst, The Hague, The Netherlands Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim, Germany Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Taideteollisuusmuseo, Helsinki, Finland
